๐Ÿ”ทLa Roche-Posayโ€™s๐Ÿ”ทoil-fighting products for oily and acne-prone skin babes

Calling all oily skin baes! Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if what we are seeing is a fresh dewy glow or a tired shiny greaseball. Either way, we might just have your next favorite go-to skin prepping products to help you deal with this excessive summer heat. One of our favorite and affordable budget-friendly skincare brands La Roche-Posay has two products to help fight the overproduction of sebum and acne-clogging pores. The Effaclar Lotion Astringent Toner for Oily Skin and the Effaclar Micro Peeling Purifying Gel Cleanser from La Roche-Posay is here to push out the excessive oils and keep us oily skin beauties feeling fresh all summer long.

A cult classic brand loved by consumers and dermatologists alike, La Roche-Posay was founded in 1975 by chemist Monsieur Levier in the town of La Roche-Posay, France. Levier started out by making gentle moisturizers formulated with the townโ€™s thermal spring water, which was full of natural skin soothing minerals and antioxidants that could treat all types of skin conditions. His products started becoming more popular as folks began requesting different products to treat other skin conditions. Most of the La Roche-Posay products contain this main ingredient: selenium rich, thermal spring water. Now based in New York City, the brand partners with dermatologists from all over and continues to develop โ€œcutting edgeโ€ skin care formulas.

We totally get why this brand has such a huge cult following. They offer an abundance of products that target almost every skin type and condition. Their mild, yet effect, high quality formulas reach a wide audience. Along with their accessibility and affordability, La Roche-Posay has created a winning formula!

Ok oily skin beauties, let's talk about getting the overproduction of sebum clogging up your pores, under control. The Effaclar Lotion Astringent Toner for Oily Skin is a daily toner that helps remove excess oil and helps reduce the look for enlarged pores. It is also formulated with micro-exfoliating LHAโ€™s (Lipo-Hydroxy Acid) for an added slight chemical exfoliation, and of course, the brandโ€™s unique thermal spring water. This product retails for $25 and is recommended for acne prone, oily skin and textured skin beauties.

The Effaclar Micro Peeling Purifying Gel Cleanser is a face and body cleanser that helps deeply exfoliate, helps reduce excess sebum and helps reduce acne recurrence. Formulated with a mixture of LHA, zinc and salicylic acid, this cleanser works to gently sloth away dirt and dead skin cells, leaving a clean, soft and smooth canvas. In other words, itโ€™s the ultimate cleanser for my acne prone babes.

Itโ€™s time to put these oil and acne eliminators to the test! Glowish influencer Lavinia suffers from dry, sensitive and acne prone skin. She also has both cystic and hormonal acne and is looking for a product to help with her hyperpigmentation due to acne scarring. The first product she uses is the Gel Cleanser. Her first impression of the product was the scent, which she can only describe as the scent of a hot tub. After using the cleanser and washing off her face, she feels very clean and refreshed. Following up with the toner, Laviniaโ€™s skin is feeling fresh and glowy. The overall verdict of her two-week skin trial resulted in her skin feeling super smooth. She enjoyed the cleanser because it was just the right amount of exfoliation without being overly stripping to her sensitive skin. However, the added fragrance in the toner seemed to irritate her more problematic areas and created a new set of acne breakouts. The influencer rated the cleanser a 4/5 saying it did what it claimed, but she wasnโ€™t blown away by any life changing results. She rated the toner a 3/5 because her sensitive skin just didnโ€™t take well to the added fragrance.

Maybe this cult beauty brand didnโ€™t work out too well for our influencer. But, with their vast array of product lines, they might have exactly what you are looking for. With the skin care and beauty industry becoming more and more inclusive, there can be a product to fit just about anyoneโ€™s needs!
